Top Chef Needs to Change Their Flawed Rating System
I usually don’t write about shows, but last night’s “Top Chef” irked me because the wrong person won. Their system of judging each competition separately is erred. They are trying to judge it like “Project Runway” and “Shear Design,” but with food, you can’t do it that way. You have to take more of an “America’s Next Top Model” format where they judge them by how they performed overall throughout the competition.
Hosea and Carla (I love her but it’s the truth) were usually at the bottom, while Stefan was always on top. How is it possible that Hosea, who was the worst out of the three won? Pure luck! On top of that, from what he said, one of the main reasons that he won was because Richard, who is awesome, gave him lots of ideas.
Additionally, this cop out of not making a dessert because he “wasn’t comfortable with it” should have been a huge strike against him. Toby is right. I thought it was funny how the European chefs noticed that, while the American ones tried to excuse it with “it went from light to heavy.” Come on.
I think another reason Hosea, who had this weird vendetta towards Stefan who didn’t give a damn about him, won is cause Tom didn’t like Stefan. Yes, Stefan was annoying as hell at times, but this isn’t a popularity contest. It’s about the food.
Now that I am saying this I am going to say that I am tired of people not paying attention to who is the real jerk on a show. WAKE UP PEOPLE! The real jerk was Hosea. He was a total dick the entire time to everyone. Remember Ariane? He totally ousted her with that girl Leah, who should have been gone a long time ago but she kept the drama going so they kept her. On top of that, he was constantly putting people down when they were interviewing him. When Carla started crying, Stefan went to hug her when Hosea, who looked like he didn’t give a damn, was standing right next to her. Additionally, Stefan teared up seeing her like that.
Unless “Top Chef” changes their rating system, I think many people are going to start tuning the show out. I think I’m going to start watching “Hell’s Kitchen” instead.

You know, I can't say I ever watched this show, but I have seen people in reality shows win and they left my mouth open and wondering what happened there! Its a shame the jerk one in this case. Hopefully the person that deserved it will be compensated in life for this result.
Sometimes I wonder why I waste my time watching reaiity shows. They are more fiction than anything out there. Usually the producers intervene cause they want people who will keep viewers interested, now cause they are talented. Perfect example: Last Comic Standing. I use to love that show until the where Drew Carey and Brett Butler were in and voted for these two comedians. However, the producers wanted these other two, who sucked, to be on the show, so they overrode them. Complete fakeness.
I completely agree! I watched the rerun and when it got close to the end, I said Hosea is going to win. I checked online and yup, he won! I changed the channel right then. No way should Hosea have been in the top 3. Fabio..definitely!
I know! My mom was so upset. She called me just to complain about it. hahahaha….Don't blame her.
Then I read an interview with Casey, who was one of the reasons Carla lost, and she was trying to blame Carla! Nothing changes the fact that the dishes you suggested your crappy decisions were Carla's downfall.
Yeah, I have no idea why Carla listened to Casey. As I watched it, I knew that would be her downfall. She just wasn't confident enough in her own food as she stated.
As we saw this season, having too much confidence or having too little of it can be your downfall
