Top Ten Vampire Movies of All Time

I use to have this total obsession with vampires. When I was younger, all my alias were “vampyrejuliette,” and I dressed up like one whenever I had the chance. These are my top ten vampire films of all time. Please tell me yours in the comments.

10. Nosferatu

One of the first vampire movies ever created. A German silent film with a bald-headed vampire with sharp nails and teeth. It gave me an appreciation for the blood-thirsty vampires that lurk in the night, just like other future films.

9. Let the Right One In

This is a newcomer. A Swedish film about a boy and vampire who become attach. My sister and I were captivated by the entire plot because it wasn’t just about vampires; it also delved into the human psyche.

8. Blade

Adapted from a Marvel comic about a man who is the only one able to fight the vampires. Why? He was given some of their tainted blood when they took his pregnant mother. He becomes a hardcore fighting machine who the vampires fears and even respect.

7. Buffy, the Vampire Slayer

It was a campy look of a selfish teenager who learns she is a vampire slayer. I loved this film and it was the main reason I got turned onto the the TV show of the same name.

6. The Hunger

Catherine Denueve and David Bowie are vampire lovers who are trying to seduce Susan Sarandon. A cult classic that makes vampires seem sensual, beautiful, and mysterious.

5. The Lost Boys

If you were alive during the eighties, then you have seen and loved this movie. A vampire-infested town where the Coreys make an appearance. I love this movie so much that I even downloaded “Cry, Little Sister” and listen to it all the time.

4. Interview with a Vampire

I read all the Annie Rice books, and I love Brad Pitt. I will admit that at the time, I also loved Tom Cruise. They were chosen to accurately portray her vision, and I am sad it was tarnished with “Queen of the Damned.” However, the movie is great and it is pretty close to the book.

3. Bram’s Stroker’s Dracula

I remember that I went with my aunt and younger sister to watch this movie. We snuck in to watch it after seeing “Malcolm X.” Being a romantic at heart, I loved the portrayal of true love between the Count and Mina. Even now, I can watch this movie over and over again.

2. Blood: The Last Vampire

An anime short that shows how hardcore vampires can be. It also was the inspiration for my favorite anime series of all time: Blood Plus. They have made a live-action version, and I am dying to see it because I can’t get enough. If you haven’t seen it, do it now. If you are into vampires, then this is an ultimate must.

1. NightWatch/DayWatch

I know I put two movies, but you have to watch both movies to get an inspiration for this Russian series. It is one of my favorite movies of all time, and I love how they represented vampires in a non-traditional way.

Salem's Lot was one of my only Stephen King stories that I didn't like, and the movie didn't help either. If I was talking about books, I would have definitely stuck Lestat as one of the top ones. =)
